Joining the other ranks of Premiership players switching football boots, it seems that John Carew is now playing in the adidas F50 adiZero.

The Aston Villa forward has previously been a long-time advocate of the Puma v1.10 series football boots, but now looks to have made the switch to the ultra-light adidas model.

This will definitely register as a blow to Puma should the switch turn out to be permanent for several reasons:

Firstly, the big Norwegian cropped up to score several important goals for Villa last term, and with Emile Heskey getting less and less first team football, many tip Carew to replicate his previous Super-Sub status, or to partner Gabriel Agbonlahor.

Secondly, Carew would have been an odds-on favourite to wear the v1.10 SL and snubbing them for the adidas F50 adiZero sends out all sorts of wrong messages.

Finally, after most Puma Players made the switch to the PowerCat 1.10, Carew was one of the few v1 Series wearers left in the Premier League.
